CHAPTER 5

The Final Battle

Over Calibina

The girls are getting ready for the battle that lies ahead for all of them. Meline is now not doing so well in school and is worried that if she keeps up with the bad grades, she will be kicked off the school soccer team. Meline doesn’t want to lose her spot on the soccer team, but she has a problem trying to figure out the plan for what she is about to encounter.

The one thing she wants to do is to let the teachers know why her grades are slipping, but she can’t. She is very conflicted on what she should do. She also noticed that if she wins the battle over her kingdom, she doesn’t know how to rule it. There aren’t any classes on how to rule your own kingdom 101, so Meline is very scared and nervous. Meline has tried to tell this to her friends and her parents, but she realized that they won’t be able to help her.

Even though she has two names, Meline/Cerencia, she knows who she is and somewhat of what she was born into. All she knows about her kingdom is that something happened and she was placed on land and now she has to go back because her kingdom needs her. She also knows the name of her kingdom, which is Calibina. She had tried to research about mermaid princesses, but she couldn’t find anything. Meline thinks that humans are oblivious on the subject of mermaids.

That day after school, all of them meet up at Alinda’s place. They decide to see if they could channel Meline’s powers through them and then let go of each other’s hands and see if they can still channel it in their heads. So one by one, they try to use her powers on land, but nothing works. Then Meline decides that it may not work on land because they can already breathe on land; her powers can’t help them on land anyway. Now since she knows that there is a problem in trying something like this in the ocean and no plant can survive in the pool, it will be better to go to a river or a lake.

Meline asked, “Does anyone know where the closest river or lake is?”

“Not really,” said Linda.

“Great, now what are we going to do?” asked Meline.

“Don’t know. Maybe we should ask our parents if they know any lakes or rivers that are close here that no one goes to,” said Linda.

“Maybe we could look it up first before we ask our parents,” said Alinda.

“Great idea, Alinda, we should do that,” said Meline.

So they went online to research for the closest lake or river. The problem was that they couldn’t find out if the lake or river was deserted. Then they wrote down all the lakes and rivers on a piece of paper so they could ask their parents if they knew if any of them were abandoned or private or even condemned. They asked their parents, and they didn’t know, so they had no clue on what they should do.
